This week, I’ve been adding more layers to my painting, letting it evolve day by day. The process has been both meditative and exciting. I’ve built up the clouds with a stippling technique using Posca pens, but before and after that, I experimented with my watercolour palette. Using the white pan and my finger as a paintbrush, I softened the edges and added texture, giving the clouds a fluffier, more organic feel. The more I add, the more everything comes together. There’s something so satisfying about watching a piece slowly come to life, revealing its own direction as I keep working. One area I’m still unsure about is the pink and yellow space where a spot of pink acrylic ink sits. At first, I thought it looked like a sun, but now I’m wondering if it could become a giant flower instead. I’ve also been toying with the idea of incorporating text, maybe through collage or embroidery stitching, to add another layer of depth.
For now, I might step away for a few days and return with fresh eyes after the weekend. Sometimes, a little distance is the best way to figure out what a painting truly needs.
